One of UFO’s local favorites seriously turning heads around town, SunSquabi consists of guitarist Kevin Donohue, bassist Andrew Clymer, and drummer Chris Anderson. These boys have made a serious statement around Colorado: they want more. Though the members of the band are among the most down-to-earth musicians in town, by no means does it mean that their dreams of success are subtle: SunSquabi—with shows recently booked throughout Colorado, including Snowball—is pumping out as much as possible, and see their live electro-funk roots as just the beginning.
“We’re not just looking to improve within a genre,” says Clymer, “but bring genres to connect and evolve through our progressions and group dynamic.” Recently adding Anderson as a live drummer to the Squabi team has turned up the heat with on-point percussion and mastered progressions. However, it might be Donohue’s live guitar that makes Sunsquabi so unique: as we wrote before in a Boulder Weekly review, “heavy bass with slide guitar is really untapped territory.” Fast-paced electronic beats alongside heart piercing guitar solos truly make this group a hot ticket, and you’ve heard it here: these kids are going BIG.
